How does OpenCart eBay Connector Extension work?

To set up the eBay OpenCart Integration Module the OpenCart store admin need to generate the API keys (steps to generate the API key are available in the document). After configuring the extension the admin can manage the eBay store listing, inventory and orders from the OpenCart store.

Basic Setup & Steps

Profiles Management

Profile management allows the store admin to select the basic settings to list the product like - eBay Store selection (country-wise), Currency, Language, Shipping Profile, Product conditions and other required fields which are listed below. The Profiles Management tab of the OpenCart eBay Marketplace Extension allows the store admin to enter all the required fields for the eBay listing. 

Bulk listing of the products

The admin can map the OpenCart store category to the eBay Marketplace category so that all the products listed under the OpenCart store category can be uploaded to the most relevant category of the eBay Marketplace. The eBay OpenCart Connector extension provides an easy to handle interface to the user so that they can map the OpenCart store category with the eBay Marketplace category with ease.

Product Description Template

The OpenCart eBay Integration Extension allows using the placeholders for the product description. The admin can use the placeholders like - {product_description} {product_id} {product_title} {sku} {model} {upc} {ean} {meta_title} {meta_description} {meta_keyword}.

Quantity Management

To meet eBay selling limitations for the product listings, the admin has the option to sync the limited quantities of the products to eBay Marketplace. The OpenCart eBay Integration extension allows the admin to set a minimum quantity for a profile and as per the minimum quantity, the products will be listed to the eBay Marketplace.

Price Management

The eBay OpenCart Integration plugin allows the admin to list the products to the eBay marketplace at a different price than the OpenCart store price. The eBay Marketplace extension for OpenCart has the feature to list the product based on a higher or lower price based on a fixed or percentage basis.

Return Management

If you offer the returns for the eBay store products then you can set up the return fields from the eBay OpenCart Connector extension. The eBay OpenCart Integration Extension allows the store admin to add the Return Description, Return Within (in days), Refund type - Money Back, Money Back or replacement and Money Back or Exchange.

Payment methods

The OpenCart eBay Integrator Extension allows the store admin to set the desired payment methods for the eBay store from the eBay Integration extension.

Manage Orders with ease

Orders Management

The OpenCart eBay Marketplace Integration extension allows order management from the OpenCart store itself. There are 2 options, please refer to the next point.

Order Import

The admin can import the eBay orders to the OpenCart store and process the same from the OpenCart store. The admin needs to click on the Sync Orders button of the eBay OpenCart Integrator extension. The admin can also set up the CRON to automate the order sync process. 

Order status update on eBay

The admin can update the order status on the eBay marketplace once the order has been shipped. To achieve the same the admin needs to run the Order Update CRON that is available under the synchronization tab of the OpenCart eBay Integration extension.

Synchronization between OpenCart and Ebay Marketplace

Product Listing    

All the products that admin needs to list on the eBay Marketplace or already listed on eBay can be viewed under the Product listing tab of the OpenCart eBay Connector extension. The admin can view the product image, eBay Listing Id, Name, Profile to which product is mapped, Listing Status and Date Added. The admin has the advanced options that are explained in the next few points.

Local Sync

Local Sync allows the admin to synchronize the product from the OpenCart store to the eBay Integration module. The Local Sync option of the eBay OpenCart Extension makes it easy for the store admin to list all the products or selected products to the eBay Marketplace. Local Sync operation can be performed from the Products tab and the Synchronization tab of the eBay OpenCart Integration Extension. 

Sync Products

Sync Products option allows the listing of the products to the eBay Marketplace. This is used for the bulk listing, if the admin will click on the List Products then all the products will be sent to the eBay marketplace for listing. Sync Products operation can be performed from the Products tab and the Synchronization tab of the eBay OpenCart Integration Extension. 

Revise Products

To revise a product on the eBay store the admin needs to click on the "Mark for the Update" (revise) button. Once the admin has clicked on the Revise Product option then it will start showing the sync option so that admin can sync the product to the eBay Marketplace. This option is available under the products tab of the eBay OpenCart Integration Extension. Revise Products operation can be performed from the Products tab and the Synchronization tab of the eBay OpenCart Integration Extension. The admin can also set up the CRON for Revising the products on eBay from the Synchronization tab of the OpenCart eBay Integrator Extension. 

Enable or Disable Products

The admin can disable the products from the product listing page. The Disabled products will get removed from the eBay store. Admin can enable these products later. The admin needs to click the End products button under the Synchronization tab of the eBay OpenCart Integration Extension. 

Sync Product Status from eBay:

By clicking the "Sync Product Status from eBay" the admin can update the eBay listing status of the products. This can help to track the status of the product on the product listing page of the eBay OpenCart connector plugin.



Sync Products Inventory in Bulk:

By clicking the "Sync Product Inventory of Listed Products" the admin can update the inventory of listed products from Opencart store to eBay.



Advanced Features

Shipping Profiles

Shipping Profiles are used to manage the Shipping on the eBay Marketplace. Just like the eBay Marketplace, the OpenCart store admin can create the shipping profiles from the eBay Integration extension that will get synced to eBay. To create the Shipping Profiles there is a separate tab in the eBay OpenCart Integration Extension. These created Shipping Profiles will be available in the Profiles section so that admin can select the desired Shipping Profile for the product listing. 

Synchronization

To automate the product listing, inventory synchronization, order management the admin can use the button click option or admin has the option to set up the CRON. The Synchronization tab of the eBay OpenCart Connector plugin provides the interface for the same. The instructions for setting up the CRON are also mentioned on the Synchronization page.

eBay Orders

The OpenCart eBay Integration extension synchronizes the orders from the eBay Marketplace to OpenCart store. All these orders can be viewed and modified from the eBay Orders tab of the extension. After updating the order status on the OpenCart Store the admin needs to click the Update Orders from the Synchronization or admin can set the CRON to perform this task automatically.

1- How to set up a seller account on eBay Marketplace?
You can create the seller account on eBay by following the steps below:
  • Go to the link https://go.developer.ebay.com/
  • Click on the “Register” button and fill the form.
  • After filling in the valid data click on the “join” button. It will be redirected to the application creation page.
  • Enter the application name and click on create key set under the Production section, a new form will be opened
  • Enter the details and click on Continue to create Keys. The application keys will be shown
  • To create a user token, click on User Tokens and Sign in to Production to get a token
  • Fill in the details and click on “Sign in to eBay to get a Token’”
  • On clicking Sign in and filling in details you will be redirected to your eBay account

2- How to sync only the stock of products on eBay without synchronizing new products or without updating titles, descriptions, and other details?
eBay OpenCart  Integrator has an option “Sync Inventory of Listed Product” in the Inventory Sync section to sync inventory of all listed products from OpenCart to eBay.

3- How to add variations on eBay Marketplace of already-listed products?
By  following the steps  below  you can add any new variations in the already listed products:
  • Add the new variations of products in OpenCart.
  • Run Local Sync cron.
  • Run the “Revise Product” cron and the new variations will be added on eBay.

4- How to fix Error message: The duration "30" day(s) is not available for this listing type, or invalid for category "15687"?
This error message comes from eBay which states that you cannot list products for 30 days as the category of this product is not eligible for the same. To fix this issue, kindly change the duration from the profile section or the category of the product. 

5- How to fix the error message at least one of the variations associated with this listing must have a quantity greater than 0?
eBay does not allow to list new products with 0 quantity. In this case, you can list such products with 1 quantity (of any variant) and after that update the inventory of these products to 0 using the “Sync Inventory of Listed Product” cron in eBay-OpenCart Integration Module.

6- What is the purpose and use of the Product Description Template?
It is used to set the format of the product description on eBay. You can also optimize the product title while listing products on eBay.

For example, if we want to add a product title at starting/end of every description then we can use {product_title} placeholder in the template and then {long_description}.

7- How many Placeholders can be used in the Product Description Template?
OpenCart-eBay Integration module supports the following place holders in the Product Description Template:
{short_description} : To use short description of product
{long_description} : To use long description of product
{product_title} : To use product title of product in description
{reference} : To use reference of product in description

8- Can we use images in the Product Description Template?
Yes, we can use images in the production description template.

9- How to handle eBay Selling limitations?
On eBay, there are selling limitations on the total pricing of the products which can be listed. To handle this scenario, we can list products with minimum quantity, so that when any product is sold we can increase the inventory back to that minimum quantity.
In the Profile Management section, our module has an “Alter Quantity” field. If we use 5 in this field and have 10 quantities of a product in OpenCart store admin then the system will send 5 quantities for that product to eBay and in the case, product quantity is less than  5 then the system will send that quantity as is to eBay.

10- How can I control price (higher or lesser) on eBay Marketplace than our OpenCart store?
Price management functionality in eBay OpenCart Integrator provides an option to control prices (higher or lesser) of products on eBay Marketplace. There are eBay merchants who would like to list products at higher prices on eBay to offset the commission. In such scenarios, the merchant can define a markup of 10% or any other desired value. 

The user needs to enable this option in the Profile Management section and set ‘Increase or Decrease Price’, ‘Price Value’, and ‘Percentage or Fixed’ fields.

For example: 
A product is of $100 and the user select “Increase” in Increase or Decrease Price, enter Price value as 5 and select “Percentage” in Percentage or Fixed fields then system will send $105 price of that product on eBay.
