What’s New for App Developers in Facebook’s Recent Business Verification Policy!!

Facebook has recently made some changes in the policies for app developers. In brief, if your app needs advanced access permissions, it is mandatory to complete the business verification.

In other words, if you are using Facebook’s services in your apps such as Facebook pixel and Facebook login. You will have to get your business verified by Facebook. It is a process that allows Facebook to collect information about your business. Facebook describes the need for business verification for identifying you as a legal business entity.

What’s New in the Policy!!

Apps that require advanced access for permissions and data sharing must be connected to a verified business entity. This ensures that app users from other businesses can grant permissions to the app and that all features are active. However, if the app will only be used by app users who have a role in the app itself, verification is not necessary.

To connect an app to a business, the app dashboard can be used. However, the verification process itself must be completed by the Facebook Business Manager. Only someone with an Admin role in the business will be able to complete the verification process.

Overall, Business Verification is an essential process for businesses and apps that require advanced access for permissions and data sharing. It provides a secure way for businesses to connect and share data while ensuring that their identities are verified.

How to Verify Your Business!

Step 1: Connect Your App to a Business:

  1. For beginning with the first step, you will have to hover over the app dashboard. In the Settings tab, choose basic settings options.
  2. On the appeared page, along with your app details like Application ID, and Application secret, you will have the option to start business verification.
  3. In case you have already completed individual verification on the Facebook developer console, click on the +Business verification button.
  4. In case you are already having your Facebook Business account associated with your Facebook Developer account. You can choose your business account after starting the business verification.
  5. However, if you are not having a business account, you are going to require a new one for getting advanced access to your apps.

After connecting your apps to a verified business, all you need to do is sit back and relax. You can check out the verification section in your Facebook developer account and the app should show connected to a verified business.

Step 2: Business Verification:

However, if you are not having your business verified by Facebook Business, you will have to complete the verification. Moreover, it is not required that only the business admin can complete the business verification. The app developers can also complete the business verification at their end with appropriate business details.

Now, the question comes to how to complete the business verification. In case your business is not verified, click on start business verification. There you will have to fill out the details about your business.

Facebook requires basic details such as company address, company name, and other details to consider a business as a legal business entity. Once you will submit all the details and complete the business verification, you can head back to the settings>>basic and can check the status of your app.

Why it is Important!!

According to Facebook, all app owners will have to verify their business before May 1 to continue the grant of advance access. Regarding the new apps, Facebook has made business verification mandatory from February 1. Thus, in case you require advance access to your mobile apps, you will have to have a verified Facebook Business account.
